There have been several games featuring James Bond over the years, and now the franchise will spin a new tale in “Project 007.”
“Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON and MGM, can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities,” Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, said in announcing “Project 007.” Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, “No Time to Die” stars Daniel Craig in his fifth and final turn as the legendary British Secret Service Agent 007. This past week, IO Interactive published a full annual report for the 2021/22 fiscal year. It will also feature full first-person VR support for the PlayStation 4 version.The 25th installment in the James Bond film series, “No Time to Die,” is currently slated to hit theaters globally on April 2, 2021, after MGM rescheduled the release date several times because of the COVID pandemic. IO Interactive has indicated Project 007 might not launch until after 2025. IO Interactive's Hitman 3 is still in development and planned to launch on Janufor Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch, with the Switch being supported only via cloud streaming. Will Oddjob make an appearance? Will he be so short that other players have trouble hitting him? Only time will tell. Yes, it appears Project 007 will feature multiplayer in some form or another.
Vacant positions include technical director, senior producer, senior concept artist, and senior multiplayer network programmer.
It appears to be very early in production, as the developer is still recruiting developers across several departments. We don't see Bond himself, nor do we know if his likeness will be based on any of the actors who have played him over the years. We then get the long-running gun barrel shot as the game's tentative title is revealed. The teaser video shows very little, as the camera moves into the interior of a gun and the classic Bond theme begins to play.
